Cate Blanchett is an Actress, Voice Actor, and Theatre director. She is well known for her work in the films The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.
Cate Blanchett – Birth, Parents, Siblings
Cate Blanchett's birth took place on 14 May 1969 in Ivanhoe, Victoria, Australia. She was born Catherine Elise Blanchett to parents June Blanchett (Australian) and Robert DeWitt Blanchett, Jr. (American). Her mother worked as a property developer and teacher, while her father worked as a United States Navy Chief Petty Officer and later as an advertising executive.
Sadly, when Cate Blanchett was 10 years old, her father died of a heart attack. So, her mother raised her along with siblings Bob Blanchett (older brother) and Genevieve Blanchett (younger sister).

As for education, Cate Blanchett attended Ivanhoe East Primary School, Ivanhoe Girls' Grammar School, and Methodist Ladies' College. For a year, she attended the University of Melbourne to study economics and fine arts, but dropped out. Instead, after a short break, she enrolled at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) and graduated from the same with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1992.

Cate Blanchett and screenwriter Andrew Upton met on set in 1996. In little over a year, they married on 29 December 1997.
Together, the couple has four children- three sons and one adopted daughter. The couple welcomed their first son, Dashiell John Upton, on December 3, 2001, followed by the birth of their second son, Roman Robert Upton, on April 23, 2004.
Cate Blanchett got pregnant for the third time and delivered their son Ignatius Martin Upton on April 13, 2008. The married couple adopted a baby girl named Edith Vivian Patricia Upton on March 6, 2015. The couple seems to be content with their marriage, as there is no news of their extramarital affairs or divorce.

Cate Blanchett – Career
Early Career
While in her late teens and early twenties, Blanchett worked in a nursing home in Victoria, and while at Methodist Ladies' College, she caught the acting bug. She also had the sudden chance to appear in an Egyptian boxing movie, Kaboria, as an American cheerleader.
After graduating from NIDA, Cate Blanchett landed roles in films and series such as Bordertown (1995), Parklands (1996), and Paradise Road (1997). Finally, in 1997’s Oscar and Lucinda, she played the leading female role opposite Ralph Fiennes. This role of hers is also considered her breakthrough role.
She received international recognition as an actress with the movie Elizabeth (1998), where she played Elizabeth I of England.
