Donald Glover’s birth name/full name is Donald McKinley Glover Jr. His birthdate is September 25, 1983, and his birthplace is Edwards Air Force Base, Kern County, California, United States. His mother, Beverly Smith, worked as a daycare provider while his father, Donald Glover Sr., worked as a postal worker. 

Glover has a younger brother, Stephen Glover, now a writer/producer, and a younger sister named Bree Glover. All three were raised in Stone Mountain, Georgia.

Education, Ethnicity

Donald Glover received his education from Lakeside High School. After graduating from high school, Glover attended New York University Tisch School of the Arts. He graduated from there with a degree in Dramatic Writing in 2006. Donald Glover enrolled at the DeKalb School of the Arts as well.

His ethnicity is African-American.

Donald Glover started dating Michelle White in 2016. In January 2017, he announced that he had a baby with his girlfriend. White gave birth to their first child, a son, in early 2016. They named their son Legend Glover.

In September 2018, he announced that he was going to be a father for the second time as his partner was expecting a child. In January 2018, their second child, Drake, also a son, was born in January 2018. Their third child is son Donald Glover III. He married his longtime girlfriend in 2024.

There has been no news of divorce surrounding the pair.

In music

As an amateur musician, he released several mixtapes under his stage name moniker MC D and later mcDJ. In 2008, he released a mixtape under his stage name Childish Gambino. Under the name, Glover released another mixtape titled Poindexter, followed by two mixtapes- I Am Just a Rapper and I Am Just A Rapper 2. 

Donald Glover released an extended play titled EP in March 2011. The same year, on November 15, 2011, he released an album titled Camp, which reached number 11 on the Billboard 200. His mixtape Royalty was released, followed by the release of his second studio album, Because the Internet, in October 2013. 

Even with his busy schedule, he did manage to release another mixtape titled STN MTN on October 3, 2014, and an  EP titled Kauai on October 4, 2014. His third album, Awaken, My Love! was released in December 2016.

His second EP, titled Summer Pack, was released on July 11, 2018.

In 2006, Donald Glover worked with producer David Miner and comedian Tina Fey. Miner and Fey gave him an opportunity to write for the NBC sitcom 30 Rock. He accepted the offer and worked as a writer from 2006 to 2009.

With his role as Troy Barnes in the NBC sitcom Community, alongside Danny Pudi, Glover began to gain fame. He played the role from 2009 to 2014. He went on to work on his show, Atlanta, as a creator, writer, director, actor, and executive producer. 

Donald Glover has portrayed roles in movies as well. Some include- Weirdo (2012), The To Do List (2013), The Lazarus Effect (2015), Magic Mike XXL (2015), The Martian (2015), Aaron Davis in Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Lando Calrissian in Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018), as Simba in The Lion King (2019).
