Jodie Comer’s birth took place on 11 March 1993 in Liverpool, England. She was born Jodie Marie Comer. Her father, Jimmy Comer, works as a sports therapist while her mother, Donna, works for Merseytravel, the passenger transport executive. She is not the only child of her parents and has a sibling, a younger brother named Charlie Comer.

While a student in high school, Jodie Comer’s drama teacher at St. Julie's Catholic High School noticed her talent as an actress. But due to a family vacation, she was unable to attend rehearsals and was kicked out.

Comer has been dating former Pennsylvania State University lacrosse team player, James Burke, for a few years.

Her drama teacher then advised her to audition for a BBC Radio 4 play. Impressed by her talents for acting, her co-stars suggested she get an agent and pursue a career in acting, which Jodie Comer eventually did. While searching for a role, she worked several odd jobs, at a bar and at a Tesco supermarket.

She became a series regular in MY Mad Fat Diary (2013-2015), Doctor Foster (2015-2017), and The White Princess (2017). Finally, in 2018, Jodie Comer gained international recognition when she was cast as Oksana Astankova / Villanelle in the spy thriller TV series Killing Eve.
