Michael Keaton was born on September 5, 1951, in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania, United States. His birth name/full name is Michael John Douglas. His father, George A. Douglas, worked as a civil engineer and surveyor, while his mother, Leona Elizabeth Loftus, was a homemaker.

He was raised by his parents alongside six older siblings: three brothers, George A. Douglas Jr., Robert J. Douglas, and Paul J. Douglas, and sisters Diane M. Douglas, Pamela M. Douglas, and Joyce A. Douglas.

For education, Michael Keaton attended Montour High School. After graduation, he attended Kent State University. There, he studied speech for two years before dropping out. His ethnicity includes English, German, Scottish, and Irish.

Michael Keaton dated his girlfriend Caroline McWilliams and married her on June 5, 1982. He had a son born on May 27, 1983, with his wife. They named him Sean Douglas. The marriage hit rock bottom, and they divorced on 29 January 1990.

He then went on to date actress Courteney Cox in 1989. Keaton and girlfriend, Cox, were in a relationship until their breakup in 1995.

Keaton has been dating his girlfriend, Marni Turner, since 2016. They attended the 2022 Emmys together, although the couple did not walk the red carpet together.

Michael Keaton – Career

Early Days

While at the University, Michael Keaton appeared in plays. While struggling to find work as an actor, he also performed stand-up comedy. He landed roles in Where the Heart Is followed by a role in Mister Rogers' Neighborhood (1975). 

But due to a lack of work, he moved from Pittsburgh to Los Angeles, pursuing a career as a TV actor. As there was already an actor with the name Mike Douglas (daytime Host), he changed his name to Michael Keaton.

Keaton then landed roles in Maude, The Mary Tyler Moore Hour, Rabbit Test, Working Stiffs, Night Shift, Beetlejuice (1988), Jack Frost (1998), and Clean and Sober. In 1989, Michael Keaton was chosen as Batman/ Bruce Wayne in the movie Batman, a boost in his career. 

The fans were not satisfied that Keaton was chosen to play the lead role, but changed their minds after watching the movie. He reprised the role in 1992’s Batman Returns.
