His father is Marc Chalamet, an editor for UNICEF, and his mother is Nicole Flender, a former dancer and a real estate broker. He has an older sibling, a sister named Pauline Chalamet.

Growing up, Timothée Chalamet spent his summer days in Le Chambon-sur-Lignon, France. But instead of being an actor, he thought of becoming a professional soccer player.

As a child, Timothée Chalamet had done some commercials and two horror movies. In 2009, he made his first acting debut in an episode of Law & Order. This was followed by a minor role in Loving Leah (2009). In 2012, he landed a recurring role in Royal Pains and Homeland.

Over time, he has starred in Men, Women & Children (2014), Interstellar (2014), Worst Friends (2014), One & Two (2015), Love the Coopers (2015), and The Adderall Diaries (2015), where he played teenage Stephen Elliott, the character of James Franco.
