Hendricks began playing baseball at a young age. After completing high school, he was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in the 39th round of the 2008 MLB draft. However, he did not sign up and chose to attend Dartmouth College.
At college, Kyle Hendricks played college baseball for Dartmouth Big Green.

Professional Games
In the 2011 MLB draft, Hendricks was selected by the Texas Rangers. With the Rangers, he played with the Spokane Indians of the Class A-Short Season Northwest League. He also played minor leagues with the Tennessee Smokies, Iowa Cubs, etc.
