Shane Greene is a baseball player by profession and an American by nationality. He is a baseball pitcher for the Atlanta Braves of Major League Baseball (MLB), having previously played for the New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers.

Early Career

Greene played baseball in high school as a pitcher and continued through college. While rehabilitating and studying at Daytona Beach Community College, his fastball improved from 89 miles per hour to 94 miles per hour after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

Professional Career

Shane Greene was selected in the 15th round of the 2009 MLB draft by the New York Yankees. On  November 20, 201, he was added to the 40-man roster. He also won the Kevin Lawn Award for the Yankees Minor League Pitcher of the Year the same year.

At the start of the 2014 season, Greene was assigned to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders of the Class AAA International League. His debut Major League game was on 24 April 2014 against the Boston Red Sox

He completed the season with a 5–4 win-loss record, a 3.78 earned run average (ERA), and more than one strikeout per inning pitched. 

On December 5, 2014, he was traded to the Detroit Tigers and played for the Tigers from 2015 to 2019. On July 31, 2019, Shane Greene was traded to the Atlanta Braves.
