Max Landis is a screenwriter and filmmaker by profession, and an American by nationality. He is the son of director John Landis and historian Deborah Nadoolman Landis and is known for writing Chronicle, American Ultra, Victor Frankenstein, and Bright, among others.

Max Landis’ birth took place on August 3, 1985, in Beverly Hills, California, USA. He was born to his father, John Landis, a director, and his mother, Deborah Nadoolman Landis, an author, professor, historian, and costume designer.

He is not the only child of his parents and has a sibling, an older sister named Rachel Landis. His grandmother, Shirley Levine Landis, was an actress, and his grandfather, Marshall Landis, was an Interior designer.

For education, Max Landis attended Beverly Hills High School but left for a therapeutic boarding school in Connecticut. Landis later returned to Beverly Hills High School and graduated from the same. He later enrolled at the University of Miami.

Landis had brief appearances in his father's films The Stupids (1996), Blues Brothers 2000 (1998), and Burke and Hare (2010). At the age of 16, he started writing, and at the age of 18, he was able to sell his first script.

Later, he claimed that he had been drunk during the interview.

In December 2017, former co-worker Anna Akana accused him of sexual assault, and in June 2019, he was accused of emotional abuse and sexual misconduct by 8 women, including his former girlfriend, Whitney Moore.
