Who is Thomas Thibodeau?

Thomas Thibodeau is a basketball coach by profession and an American by nationality. He was the head coach and president of basketball operations of the Minnesota Timberwolves of the National Basketball Association (NBA), and assistant coach for the United States men's national basketball team.

Thomas Thibodeau’s birth took place on January 17, 1958, in New Britain, Connecticut, USA. He was born Thomas Joseph Thibodeau Jr. to his father, Thomas J. Thibodeau Sr., and his mother, Ann M. Thibodeau.

He is not the only child of her parents and has four siblings – brothers Dennis Thibodeau and David Thibodeau, and sisters Nancy Thibodeau and Janet Thibodeau.

Thomas Thibodeau – Career

While at  Salem State University, he served as captain during the 1980-81 season. After graduation, Thomas Thibodeau worked as an assistant coach at Salem State from 1981 to 1984 and as head coach from 1984 to 1985.

Thomas Thibodeau then served as an assistant coach at Harvard from 1985 to 1989. He entered the NBA in 1989 as an assistant coach for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Since then, he has worked as an assistant coach for the San Antonio Spurs (1992 – 1994), the Philadelphia 76ers (1994 – 1996), the New York Knicks (1996 – 2004), the Houston Rockets (2004–2007), and as an associate head coach for the Boston Celtics (2007 – 2010).

In 2010, Thomas Thibodeau was selected as head coach of the Chicago Bulls and worked for the team until 2015. He returned to the Minnesota Timberwolves as head coach in 2016, working with the team until 2019.
